Getting Back to Basics: Guidance and Support for Infant, Toddler & Preschool Parents and Caregivers

Are you a parent, preschool or daycare provider and have questions about your child/children’s speech & language milestones, eating, behavior and appropriate play?

 

Join the Putnam County Community Support Initiative for an informative, in-person workshop!

Presented by a variety of early childhood professionals, including speech therapists, special & general education teachers, and social workers. The presenters will share information on milestones, red flags, sensory versus behavior, strategies and appropriate play.  We will have time to break out into groups to answer questions and discuss techniques that can be utilized in various situations.

The Putnam Community Services Initiative is collaborative group comprised of individuals from Putnam County human services agencies and local school districts, including: the Childcare Council of Dutchess & Putnam, CoveCare Center, Carmel Central School District, Green Chimneys Community Based Serves, Putnam County Early Intervention and Preschool Programs, Putnam County Coordinated Services Initiative & Single Point of Access, Putnam Independent Living Services, and Putnam Valley Central School District. 

 

Presenters:

Patti Borsari: Teacher – Home & Community Per Diem.

  • Certified Elementary and Special Education Teacher
  • Taught regular ed for 6 years until having a family (3 -kids).
  • Returned to work as Spec. Ed teacher in EI and CPSE for the last 19 years.

Will be discussing age-appropriate play and how to use toys.  As well as engaging children in a serve and return while modeling play.  Decrease use of technology and increasing use of books etc.

 

Westchester-Putnam TheraTeam:  Is a pediatric therapeutic agency that services children throughout Putnam, Westchester and Dutchess counties. The agency is owned by two speech-language pathologists who will be discussing speech and language milestones and red flags for children ages 0-5. Dr. Kristen Bellom-Rohrbacher will also be leading a discussion on picky eating versus true feeding concerns.

 

Patricia Finnerty, MA, OTR/L: completed her OT degree at New York University.  Patricia has been practicing OT for more than 30 years with the majority of those years working with families in Early Intervention.  Patricia is a board-certified Occupational Therapist and is an active member of the American Occupational Therapy Association.

 

Clare Rigano:  LMHC is the Vice President of Community Based Services at Green Chimneys and has been with the agency for over two decades. She received her Masters’ Degree in School Counseling from Hunter College and has extensive experience in providing individual, group and family counseling. In her capacity as Vice President of Community Based Services, Clare oversees a comprehensive spectrum of programs tailored to meet the unique needs of families and youth spanning from infancy to early adulthood. Leading a team responsible for eight distinct programs, Clare ensures the seamless delivery of therapeutic, preventive, and supportive services aimed at fostering holistic well-being and resilience.

 

Elizabeth Marzik: LCSW is a program supervisor in Community Based Services at Green Chimneys and has been with the agency for 8 years. Through her role, she oversees four clinical programs that provide therapeutic, preventive, and supportive services to youth ages 5- 21 in the community. Elizabeth provides both individual and family therapy services and co-facilitates a variety of psychoeducational groups. In addition, she is a social work field advisor with Fordham University, Pace University, Marist University and Sacred Heart University. Elizabeth received her Master of Social Work degree from Fordham University and has been working in the mental health field since 2016.
